You should avoid using the chemical cleaners, which are full of dangerous toxins. The commercial toilet bowl cleaners contain harsh chemicals that can pollute the home’s environment. Moreover, they contain hydrochloric acid, which is extremely toxic, especially for the children, pets, and the person who cleans the toilet. Another harmful ingredient in these commercial cleaners is chlorine bleach, which can burn, corrode, or destroy living tissue. Besides the fact that the commercial toilet bowl cleaners eliminate the germs and stains, they can be detrimental to the health.
The following natural solution is free of toxins and completely safe to use. So, this eco-friendly, natural toilet bowl cleaner will keep your bathroom sparkling and germ-free.
DIY Natural Cleaner for the Toilet
- 160g baking soda
- 60ml lemon juice
- ½ white vinegar
- 1 Hydrogen peroxide (3 %, easily available at any pharmacy)
- 15-20 drops of any essential oil
First, take a small bowl and mix the baking soda and the lemon juice in it. Then, in a separate bowl, mix the hydrogen peroxide and vinegar. Next, combine the two mixtures by adding one drop at a time. Alternatively, you can add some essential oil.
Then, make half-ball shapes with a spoon. Place these half-ball shapes on some parchment paper and let them dry for at least 4 hours. When they are completely dry, store them in an air-tight glass jar. You should keep them near your toilet. So, whenever your toilet needs cleaning, simply drop one of these. You can do this as often as 2-3 times a week.
How It Works To Clean Your Toilet
Baking soda is known for its abrasiveness, which will scrub the gunk away and deodorize the toilet. Additionally, white vinegar will kill 90% of mold and 99.9% of certain bacteria. When these two ingredients are combined, they produce a foaming reaction that can help to loosen dirt and grime. The essential oils contain antimicrobial properties and will reduce the bacteria in your toilet. Last but not least, the essential oil will improve the smell.
